When the objects are alive or perishable, such as fruit and even people, they become a painting of themselves. Photography and painting are tightly connected to form two-dimensional flat surface which is trompe-l'oeil. Certain places the third dimensions can be observed, such as close to the eyes or in the hair. Meade occasionally integrates painted models within the surrounding space. This allows them to engage with the environment she has created. This way, the line between painting and photography can be dissolved.
